The Quail Hollow Connector Trail will connect Lake Township Community Park and Hartville Memorial Park. The trail also goes by the Stark Parks wetland property, Lake Middle/High School, and GentleBrook senior and disability living center. Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2026.
The Heritage Gateway, constructed in 2025, was designed to tell Hartville’s story. Barn stone honors the community’s agricultural roots, while the circular form reflects the foundation of a classic farm silo. Repurposed railroad rails celebrate Hartville’s railway history, and the steel framework pays tribute to its industrial legacy.
In 2024, our first mural celebrating and preserving Hartville’s rich history was commissioned in partnership with the Village of Hartville. Inspired by Hartville’s vibrant 1950s era—when the village was incorporated—the mural highlights defining elements of the community’s heritage, including its agricultural roots, the importance of the railroad, and the thriving local industries that helped shape the village’s identity.
We were awarded a $15,000 Visit Canton Destination Enhancement grant in 2023 to develop and prototype a community wayfinding signage system to improve the visitor experience. The goal of this design system was to create a brand feel for the West Maple Corridor that will set a tone for signage and additional brand applications.
Our initial project was the West Maple Corridor Revitalization Project Development Guidelines, which was published in 2022. The purpose of these recommendations is to help guide the development process of Hartville’s “Main Street.” Capturing many voices to drive neighborhood change, these guidelines set our community’s goals and ensure we do not stray from our core principles. It is a living document to be re-examined, revised, and updated regularly.
To create a community by choice rather than chance, throughout 2020 and 2021, our community gathered both in person and virtually to determine a shared vision for the future. Well over 600 stakeholders, including business and educational leaders, government representatives from the Village of Hartville and Lake Township, as well as the general public, voiced their needs and visions through a thoughtfully led community engagement process led by the architecture and design firm Rothschild Doyno Collaborative.
